psychotic for Lenten, day 40 & palms before dying (Hosanna King of Israel!)
Today’s Palm Sunday — the day Jesus, the Christ, arrived at Jerusalem as a King of Israel and where’d be crucified as a common thief on Holy Friday (Good Friday in the US). In any case, it marks the beginning of Holy Week.
“12 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord. 14 And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written, 15 Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt. 16 These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.” (John 12:12-16 KJV)
Instead of getting ready for church, today I’ve to work (a bloody Sunday, the Lord’s Day, definitely not my cup of tea). I need to do some changes on the mainframe and call it a day — hopefully before 10am. Then I’d go to church for 11am worship. Tomorrow I’ll work my regular hours and hear people bitch about the changes. I could do this job from home, but the bastard who sign my time-sheet will try to screw me off.
Did I mention that some subway lines aren’t running at all or are offering limited service today due to everlasting repairs? This meant an hour to get to work then an hour to get to church and then finally 45 minutes to go home by bus. It also meant falling on the stairs and hitting the metal edge of a step right beneath my left knee. That’s going to leave a nasty bruise from the ripped skin, aside from limping.
I don’t get a break or rest.
