having lunch with Jesus
This past Sunday, my five-year-old received communion for the first time. Before going to the front of the church to receive the elements, I told him that he would be having lunch with God.
He took his little piece of bread and drank his grape juice (not wine). I then asked him how it was and he said it was “good!”
For a split second, he behaved like a little angel. Almost right away, he was causing trouble again.
I wonder how his faith (if any) would be as an adult. My little boy’s being raised in the Protestant (Presbyterian) dogma while my oldest’s a hardcore Catholic.
Yesterday, my second son turned twelve (12), but that’s a different and less-than-interesting story.
